Messing about in the Highlands with bikes, cameras Messing about in the Highlands with bikes, cameras and a whole bunch of friendly people for @cutmedia has been the best kind of #inspiration to get riding again. Time to get the @opencycle UPPER back in gravel mode.

It’s been a few weeks since I laid out my strugg It’s been a few weeks since I laid out my struggles and I’ve been spending time out in the hills which has given me space for a lot of self-reflection. (I promise I won’t do too many gushy posts in the future).Last year I all but lost my enjoyment for being outside but recently have been rediscovering The Great Outdoors™. It’s where I can quieten down the internal noise and enjoy time alone which is a strange contrast to the mental battles I’ve had with myself over the last 18 or so months. This is mostly down to my brother (@joshydoc) introducing me to Scottish mountain running (or at least mountain plodding in my case) which has opened up a lot of new areas of Scotland and continues to allow me to indulge in my technical kit fetish. Photography is keeping the creativity ticking over but it’s honestly hard to take a bad photo of the Highlands. This set is from a few days up north with Logie, including our first overnighter in the hills, which was hard work but entirely rewarding. He’s the most charismatic, energetic dog I’ve ever known and his path-finding skills put mine to shame. I hope we can bag loads more munros together. There were so many messages of support and stories of peoples own struggles after my original post that it surprised me how many people cared and empathised. I thought for the longest time that this was a solo fight but that’s because I didn’t know how to ask for help. Almost every part of my life suffered as a result of that thinking.I’m coming to terms that looking after mental health is going to be a life-long process. That process started for me when I found cycling 8 or so years ago. Now I’ve been reintroduced to The Great Outdoors™, I think that’s where it’ll continue.-#itsokaynottobeokay #mentalhealthawareness #bordercolliesofinstagram #scotland #scotlandphotography #munrobagging
